2020 started off with a bang for the organisation I run, the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC).
One thing I like to do is take time out to reflect on the journey so far, the work we have done and further opportunities to improve our capacity. And with the way this year has been, this is a perfect time to pause, reflect and celebrate where necessary.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, was asked to write a letter to an individual or a group about his hopes for the future and chose to address his letter to the girls at W.TEC.
We are first of all incredibly proud to have been selected as one of 2 organisations, which he chose to visit last year during his trip to Lagos – Nigeria in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web.
And now, we are honoured that he has chosen to write a letter specially to our girls on this global and highly-respected platform. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
As the next 30 years of the Web unfold, we are confident that W.TEC alumnae are going to be making groundbreaking contributions to its evolution.
