Postcard that says: An Introvert Leader’s Arsenal includes: Superb Listening Skills

Introverts have some amazing qualities that lend themselves to being excellent leaders. Superb listening skills are one.

In a world that values talkers, the role of listeners is frequently under-valued. However, listening – particularly active listening (where you comment or ask questions about what the other person is saying, rather than waiting for them to shut up so that you can have your say) – greatly enhances a sense of connectedness.

People like to be listened to and to be heard. It makes us feel seen and valued.

Those diligent listening skills also helps us pick up what’s not being said, which is a very useful skill when leading a highly diverse team.

If you are an introvert, how do you think this has helped you be a better listener?
