Amidst the tough times we find ourselves in, I am happy for opportunities to celebrate. So it was a lovely surprise to receive an email from OkayAfrica that started off:

We are proud to announce that you have been selected as one of the 2020 honorees for OkayAfrica’s 100 Women list for your commitment to laying the groundwork for African women for the next decade and beyond.

After a year of research and a months-long process to review hundreds of nominations, we are honored to have you grace 2020’s listas a changemaker and forward thinker in your field; joining a carefully curated lineup of other women and girls who have pushed boundaries in activism, art, music, film, politics, business and more.

The women in the list are towering in their achievements and impact and it is truly an honour to be placed alongside them, including women who I know personally like Omowale David-Ashiru (Nigeria Country Director of Andela) and Odunayo Eweniyi (Co-Founder of PiggyVest), as well as the legendary Tokunbo Ishmael (Impact Investor and co-founder and Managing Director of Alitheia Capital, which has a fund targeted at women).
