Do I Need to Go Live?
We live in a time where, at any given time, you can find multiple people in your social media network, “going live” on Instagram, Facebook or any of the other myriad platforms that exist now.
Sometimes it feels like everyone is going live. People hold live discussions with others or by themselves, documenting their day or talking about topics of interest to them.
For sure, when about to launch a new business or idea, it feels like going live to create awareness about it, is the thing to do.
And yes, this is a great strategy. The opportunity for you to directly interface with your potentially ideal clients is important. You can provide information about your product or service and go into detail about the whys behind it. You can answer questions about your product. And people get to see who you are and people tend to buy from people they like.
So, there are so many reasons to go live, except that you might not be comfortable with that spontaneous mode of showcasing yourself. Perhaps you prefer to prepare your material or speaking notes carefully and stick to it? Or you just get nervous when all eyes are on you?
It’s important to recognise your strengths and play to them.
So, if you write really well, you can write blog posts or articles for a popular site, your website, a newspaper or on LinkedIn. I’m sure that you’d have heard that people are more likely to watch a video than read some text. While that might be true, your ideal clients might value a well-written article much more than a live video.
You can start a podcast, if you enjoy talking but prefer not to have a video component or don’t feel that your physical location looks good on camera.
There is also the option of video recording yourself and editing it to present the best version of yourself and sharing it online.
There are quite a number of options, so don’t ever feel that there is just one way. Rather, find YOUR way.
